Super Nero IS Coming Home!
After an absence of 60 years Greenham Common Control Tower are thrilled to be welcoming home “Super Nero”, the iconic world record breaking motorcycle that helped George Brown bag a total of 11 World speed records & 16 National records on the old Greenham Common runway back in 1966. An event that went largely unnoticed due to the success of an England football world cup win!
Following the success of a short video exhibition that unearthed much of this forgotten local and national history, further discussions led to the UK National Motorcycle Museum kindly agreeing to loan Super Nero from its permanent collection to Greenham Control Tower to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the record breaking.
The exhibition, in collaboration with the National Motorcycle Museum, will showcase Super Nero alongside unique artefacts & content kindly provided by Tony Brown, son of George, and motorsport engineering legend Adrian Reynard who both worked with George back in the 1960’s. Both men went on to be motorcycle world land speed record holders and legends in their own right - and are a continuation of the human story behind the bravery and determination needed to beat world records.
The brand new exhibition at Greenham Control Tower featuring the iconic "Super Nero" motorcycle will officially launch on October 2nd and remain in place until December 17th.
