Six New Fruit Trees for Greenham
The six fruit trees were planted in the Recreation Park, Montague Drive, off Deadmans Lane (turning off Pinchington Lane).
Ken Neal collected the trees, tree stakes, tree ties, compost from Penwood on Good Friday and then delivered them to the planting site in the afternoon of Easter Saturday. A few people then helped unload the trees etc.
22 people in total helped that day. 7 parish councillors plus Phil's wife, 11 GGG volunteers, and a resident with his two sons joined in, who kindly agreed to water the trees regularly during their growing season.
At the end there was cake - 2 types both homemade - biscuits and squash. Everyone helped tidy up and load tools etc into various cars.
Everyone had a good time. It was a good event and gave a chance for people to meet the Parish Councillors and GGG too.
Thank you to everyone who join in.
