Funding Boost for West Berkshire Foodbank Advice Service in Greenham
West Berkshire Foodbank is delighted to announce new funding to support its Benefits and Welfare Advisor service for residents in Greenham Parish.
A grant of £2,500 has been awarded by Greenham Parish Council and matched by Greenham Trust, enabling the Foodbank to expand targeted support for local households experiencing financial hardship.
Through this service, Benefits and Welfare Advisor Amelia provides specialist, one-to-one advice to help people maximise their income, access benefits and grants, and resolve complex financial issues. Working in partnership with West Berkshire Council through the Low Income Family Tracker initiative, the service offers holistic, wrap-around support to families.
In 2025, this work helped secure £379,000 in additional income for 65 households — money that goes directly towards essentials such as food, heating, and housing.
Within Greenham Parish, the Foodbank is currently supporting 119 households, including 199 children. This new funding will enable more families to access vital advice, improving financial stability and reducing the need for crisis support.
Fran Chamings from West Berkshire Foodbank said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Greenham Parish Council and Greenham Trust for their support. This funding will make a real difference to local families, helping them increase their income, reduce financial stress, and move towards a more stable future.”
